James Marshall Napier (22 October 1951 – 14 August 2022) was a character actor, playwright, and graphic artist from New Zealand. He has a long history of strong supporting roles in Australasian films and television shows. He has also had a successful stage career.
Napier was raised in Lower Hutt and attended Hutt Valley High School. He is the father of James Reuben Napier, Jessica Napier, and Rose Napier, all of whom are actors. He is the uncle of James Napier Robertson, the director.
