Mark Lanegan, the frontman of Screaming Trees and a former member of Queens of the Stone Age, died at the age of 57.

According to a statement on his Twitter account, the American singer-songwriter died at his home in Killarney, Ireland.

Throughout his career, he worked with musicians such as Kurt Cobain, PJ Harvey, Isobel Campbell, and Moby.

He was hospitalized for months last year after contracting Covid and was placed in a medically induced coma.

Lanegan, who was born in Washington state in 1964, joined Screaming Trees in the 1980s and went on to produce eight studio albums before the band disbanded in 2000.

Lanegan received tributes from celebrities in the music and entertainment industries.

Screaming Trees drummer Mark Pickerel expressed his condolences to his late bandmate, saying, “I hope the angels are taking good care of you today.”
