Shocking images show former California first lady Maria Shriver appearing unrecognizable while visiting her new Santa Monica home.
The journalist and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ex-wife has undergone dramatic transformations throughout the years.
According to her website, Maria Shriver was born in Chicago, Illinois to a family that was “motivated to serve.”
Her father, Robert Sargent Shriver, founded the Peace Corps, and her mother, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, founded the Special Olympics.
Shriver was also inspired by her uncles, former President John F. Kennedy and Bobby and Teddy Kennedy, each of whom served in the United States Senate.
“I’ve always been surrounded by folks who are accomplishing incredible things. It’s been difficult at times. But, more often than not, it has been inspiring “Shriver stated this on her website.
She graduated from Georgetown University in 1977, becoming the first member in her family to choose journalism rather than politics.
She worked hard throughout her career to make a difference, and she finally won a Peabody Award for her 1998 report on welfare reform.
She’s interviewed everyone from Fidel Castro to Ted Turner, Sarah Ferguson, and Magic Johnson, but Shriver told Oprah in 2008 that she had to work twice as hard to achieve what she had.
“I was always aware that people would assume I got the position because I was a Kennedy and that I wouldn’t be part of the team,” Shriver explained. “At every turn, I had to prove myself. I worked really hard.”
