Margit Saad was a well-known German actress. She was born on May 30, 1929, in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. Her birth name was Marguerite Saad. She worked largely in German film and television, with occasional English language appearances.
In 1960, Margit starred in the British drama film The Criminal. She also appeared in other British films and television programs such as The Rebel (US Call Me Genius, 1961) with Tony Hancock.
Margit also featured in Playback in 1962, an entry in the Edgar Wallace Mysteries series of second features, The Saint in The Saint Sees It Through (1964) and The Magnificent Two (1967) supporting Morecambe and Wise.

Pierre Dominique Ponnelle is Margit’s only child. He was born in the year 1957. His father is the late opera director and designer Jean-Pierre Ponnelle.
Dominique studied with Herbert von Karajan for four years in Berlin and Salzburg and has since conducted both concerts and operas in Germany, Eastern Europe and France.
