Margaret Urlich, one of New Zealand’s most well-known and adored musicians, suddenly passed away today (August 22) following a long battle with cancer. Following her death, many of her music lovers have used social media handles to express their heartfelt condolences to the deceased’s family.
According to family representatives, the 57-year-old music icon passed away peacefully on Monday at her home in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, surrounded by her family.

Margaret Urlich won numerous awards in Australia and New Zealand. With the New Zealand new wave band Peking Man, whose 1985 hit (Room That Echoes) soared to the top of the NZ charts, she began her career as a co-lead vocalist.
