He died after an undisclosed illness. Prior to that, he was admitted to the hospital last Tuesday after feeling ill.
An official message from his camp indicated;
“We are deeply saddened to announce the untimely passing of Dezeen founder, CEO, and editor-in-chief Marcus Fairs at the age of 54”.
Marcus will be remembered as a pioneering, innovative, and ambitious writer in the architectural and design sectors.
Not least via Dezeen, which he founded in 2006 in his spare bedroom and developed to become the world’s most popular and influential online architecture, interiors, and design magazine.
By doing so, he altered the landscape of design journalism, bringing the global design community closer together and inspiring and launching the careers of innumerable architects and designers worldwide.
