Rapper Medikal has opened up about a previous incident involving fellow musician M.anifest that led to tension between the two.
Medikal made it clear that Strongman, another rapper with whom he had a lyrical feud, was the target of his grievance, not M.anifest.
But during the conversation, Strongman worked with M.anifest, who made a veiled allusion to Medikal in a song.
The relevant line from M.anifest’s verse, “w’ani nkum a wo se omo ada,” (which means they aren’t sleepy, stop stating they are dozing off), took Medikal off guard because he had never had a run-in with the seasoned rapper before and respected him as a senior in the profession.
Medikal responded by writing a counter-diss track, which made his relationship with M.anifest even more tense.
They were later asked to collaborate with another artist, to which they both originally consented, despite their disagreements.
However, M.anifest reportedly asked that his verse be removed after learning about Medikal’s involvement in the project, indicating his unwillingness to work with him in any capacity.
Medikal expressed surprise at M.anifest’s choice, believing that their differences were not significant enough to justify such a strong reaction.
In spite of the setback, Medikal is hopeful about upcoming partnerships and wants to make amends with M.anifest.
