Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku is not just a football star; he is also a proud Ghanaian with a deep appreciation for his roots.

Despite being born in Belgium and representing the European nation at the international level, the 21-year-old has a strong connection to Ghana and its culture.

Doku, whose parents are Ghanaian, revealed that he still enjoys Ghanaian cuisine cooked by his mother. In a recent interview on the In The Premier League Chair show, he expressed his love for the food and shared, “When I go home and my mother cooks for me, it’s always Ghanaian food and I love it.”

But his love for Ghana goes beyond its delicious cuisine. Doku also admires the country’s dance, music, and language. “I like Ghana, I like the way they dance, I like the way they talk, I like the music,” he said. “Of course, I’m Ghanaian also because my parents are Ghanaians. I also speak Twi, which is a language in Ghana.”

Despite representing Belgium internationally, Doku is proud of his Ghanaian identity and is eager to visit the country again. “I’ve been there once and I’ll have to go back there again because it was a long time ago,” he shared.

Since joining Manchester City from Stade Rennes last summer, Doku has been in great form, scoring five goals and providing eight assists for Pep Guardiola’s side this season. As he continues to shine on the pitch, the young winger remains grounded in his Ghanaian heritage, embracing the food, dance, and cultural heritage of his parents’ homeland.
