A 31-year-old Nigerian national, Paul Efeturi Niboro, also known as Paul Kwame Niboro, has been remanded into prison custody by the High Court for posting sexually explicit videos of a Jehovah’s Witness lady on a pornographic website.

The victim, a 40-year-old African-American residing in Brandywine, USA, fell victim to Niboro’s deceitful tactics.

The accused, facing 10 charges including fraud, publication of obscene material, forgery, and sexual extortion, pleaded not guilty to all counts.

His defense, led by Baba Jamal, argued for bail on the grounds that he is not a flight risk. However, State Prosecutors, led by Richard Gymbiby, opposed the bail application.

The court, presided over by Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, has adjourned the case to May 16 for further orders after directing the prosecution to submit necessary disclosure documents.

The case unraveled a series of events where Niboro, pretending to be a Cyber Security Analyst employed at IBM in Canada, engaged in a romantic relationship with the victim on an online dating website. He manipulated the victim, recording their cybersex encounters, extorting money by threatening to expose the videos, and fabricating stories of accidents and financial woes to solicit funds.

Investigations revealed Niboro’s elaborate web of lies, including forged documents, false identities, and the manipulation of intimate content to extort money. The victim, feeling defrauded and threatened, sought legal assistance which led to Niboro’s arrest at a bank where he attempted to withdraw money extorted from the victim.

The discovery of incriminating evidence, such as explicit videos and falsified documents, further solidified the accusations against Niboro.

The court heard how Niboro resorted to threatening the victim with public exposure of the videos and engaged in online extortion to extract money.
