Over the weekend, a Kirkwood lady was fatally shot inside her house. Her ex-boyfriend is accused of being involved in the crime by the prosecution.
The Kirkwood Police Department reports that Todd Wilbert repeatedly contacted Elizabeth Gill on Saturday in order to request money.
According to the police, Wilbert arrived at Gill’s house about 7:30 p.m., broke in through the back patio without her consent, and shot her at around 10:15 p.m.
Gill contacted 911 to request assistance before the incident and reported that a man was in her house brandishing a pistol at her. During the call, the police dispatcher overheard a man’s voice in the background, followed by a gunshot.
Gill was dead inside the house when officers arrived, and they also located two shell casings. Wilbert was discovered next door on a cement pad by the police.
He allegedly had a gun nearby and was intoxicated.
According to a police spokeswoman, Wilbert told a homicide detective that he had contacted Gill to request money and that he had been waiting for her on her terrace when she arrived.
One of Gill’s family members heard the 911 call’s audio and recognized Wilbert’s voice.
At the time of his detention, Wilbert allegedly inquired as to Gill’s state of health.
