The Nsawam District Police have discovered a deceased male, who is thought to be in his 30s but has not been recognized.
The decaying body was discovered in the bush at “Combined Farm” at Dobro, close to Nsawam in the Eastern Region, beneath a high tension pole.
It is thought that the deceased attempted to steal a copper cable that connected lightning arrestors and been electrocuted in the process.
Beside the deceased person’s body, a plier was discovered.
A security guard tipped off the police about the body’s decomposition, and they promptly arrived to take possession of it.
Since then, the man’s body has been given to the Police Hospital for preservation and an autopsy.
During a press conference, Mr. Emmanuel Akinie, the Electricity firm of Ghana’s (ECG) Accra West Regional General Manager, issued a warning to clients about tampering with electrical infrastructure unless authorized by the firm.
We have documented instances of equipment theft and damage in the past few months. In addition to the enormous expense the business incurs to replace such pilfered or vandalized equipment, it puts these criminals’ lives and property in jeopardy,” he stated.
Mr. Akinie urged everyone to exercise caution and to report any suspicious activity near an ECG installation to the ECG office or police that is closest to it.
