Ex-President John Mahama is set to undergo vetting today, March 27, 2023, as part of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s flagbearership contest.

The exercise will take place at the party’s headquarters in Accra and will commence at 10 am.

The Mahama communications team has issued publicity material announcing the event. The party’s elections committee Chairman, Kakra Essamuah, has disclosed that the aspirants will be thoroughly vetted on their qualifications for the position, ideologies, and vision for the party.

In his statement, Essamuah expressed his satisfaction with the process so far and noted that the next step is the vetting. The presidential vetting will take place on Tuesday, and the parliamentary vetting will follow in the next two weeks, probably the first week of April.

Aside from Mahama, other aspirants including former Finance Minister Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, former Kumasi Mayor Kojo Bonsu, and businessman Ernest Kwaku Kobeah have successfully filed their nominations.

The party closed the filing of nominations for all flagbearer aspirants hopefuls last week, paving the way for the vetting process. This marks a significant milestone in the NDC’s preparations towards the 2024 general elections.
