John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has made a bold promise to establish military barracks in all six of the newly created regions in Ghana. The regions include North East, Savannah, Oti, Western North, Ahafo, and Bono East.
During an interaction with the Chiefs and people of Gambaga in the North East region, Mr. Mahama emphasized the importance of having the Ghana Armed Forces present in all regions. He stated, “All the six new regions are going to have military barracks so that the Ghana Army will be present in all the regions.”
In addition to this commitment, the former President also pledged to create a joint military and Police anti-armed robbery squad to combat the rising robbery menace in the country. He highlighted the connection between security and economic prosperity, stating, “We know that our 24-hour economic policy cannot work unless there is security and safety for everybody.”
