The goal of opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) flag bearer John Dramani Mahama’s proposed 24-hour economy initiative is to allow companies to run three shifts a day.
He claims that the public and private sectors will work together to accomplish this goal. “The 24-hour economy is designed to create new employment opportunities, particularly for young people, address unemployment, and enhance living standards in Ghana.”
The NDC presidential candidate announced on social media that his government will pass new legislation, including labor laws and tax breaks, to assist companies that operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week (24/7).
“To assist companies, there will be favorable tax policies, stimulus packages, and financial assistance available for specific industries, including agro-processing and manufacturing,” said Mahama.
The previous president additionally stated, “Buying local products and services will be the government’s top priority, and measures will be implemented to ensure the smooth operation of the 24-hour economy.”
