The North Tongu Member of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has praised former President John Dramani Mahama for his exemplary leadership and statesmanship. Ablakwa, who serves as the Ranking Member on the Foreign Affairs Committee of Ghana’s Parliament, described Mahama as a democrat, visionary, and statesman that many should strive to emulate.
Ablakwa’s comments came after Mahama was awarded the prestigious 2024 Africa Advancement Award for Exemplary Leadership at the African Heritage Awards (AHA) event in Lagos, Nigeria. The award recognizes Mahama’s contribution to Ghana’s democracy and his peaceful transfer of power to his successor after losing the 2016 general elections.
In a social media post, Ablakwa congratulated Mahama for consistently making Ghana proud on the international stage.
He also highlighted the global appeal of Mahama’s literary work, noting that his book, “My First Coup D’Etat: And Other True Stories from the Lost Decades of Africa,” has been translated into the Russian language.
Mahama’s achievements on the international stage have not gone unnoticed, with Ablakwa noting that the former president is frequently consulted and asked to lead election observer missions across the African continent.
Ablakwa expressed his admiration for the respect and admiration Mahama receives in international circles, emphasizing his status as a respected leader and role model.
