Jacob Cort Nielsen is the brother of the cyclist.
He also has a sister who has not been documented as of 2022.
He took every possible climbing point over the minor slopes of Denmark at the start of the 2022 Tour de France to earn the polka dot jersey early in the race.
He beat the record of the legendary Federico Bahamontes for finishing first at the most consecutive mountain checkpoints after the rest day when the race shifted to France.
The next day, on stage 5, he rejoined the breakout, this time with colleague Neilson Powless, who had a chance to claim the yellow jersey. He slipped somewhat behind at the finish of the stage, but he still received his second Most Combative Rider title in three stages.
