Haddock began assisting Black producers and filmmakers with their movies, TV shows, and series in the 1970s after realizing the need to diversify the stories being told on television.
She founded BPM, formerly known as the National Black Programming Consortium, in 1979. Under her direction, the organization provided funding and public television distribution for the work of hundreds of Black directors and producers.
