Lycée Français International Jacques Prévert School in Ghana recently celebrated its 60th anniversary, marking six decades of academic excellence, cultural enrichment, and the promotion of international understanding.
The event, themed “Proud Past, Bright Future: Reflecting on 60 Years of Lycee Excellence”, was filled with joy and cheers from students and parents, and was graced by the presence of President Akufo-Addo, the President of the Republic of Ghana.
The celebration also saw the participation of other dignitaries, including Dr. Osei Adutwum, the Minister of Education; Jules Armand Aniambossou, the French Ambassador to Ghana; and Anna Bossman, the Ghanaian Ambassador to France. President Akufo-Addo commended the institution for its enduring commitment to nurturing global citizens.
He emphasized the importance of education for the youth, stating, “Education is the cornerstone of our nation’s future, and it is our solemn duty to ensure that every child in Ghana has access to quality education.” The French Ambassador to Ghana, Jules Armand Aniambossou, also praised the school for its role in promoting Franco-Ghanaian relations and advancing the French language and culture.
Reflecting on the school’s journey, the Board Chair, Jean-Louis Feghali, acknowledged the visionaries who laid the foundation of the institution and the contributions of students and educators to its legacy of excellence. As the school plans to embark on massive expansion projects, the commitment to academic excellence, cultural diversity, and global citizenship remains steadfast.
The event was attended by dignitaries, alumni, parents, students, and well-wishers, showcasing the school’s legacy beyond academic achievement. Various cultural performances, alumni reunions, and exhibitions highlighting the school’s rich history and achievements were part of the anniversary celebration.
