Luis Diaz’s father, Luis Manuel Diaz, has been released nearly two weeks after being kidnapped by a guerrilla group in Barrancas, La Guajira.
His mother, Cilenis Marulanda, was found shortly after the kidnapping. Colombian authorities identified the kidnappers as representatives of the ELN, a recognized terrorist guerrilla group.
A successful rescue mission, involving a helicopter with representatives from the United Nations and the Catholic Church, led to Diaz Sr.’s release.
He was found in good health conditions and will be reunited with his family in Barrancas.
