Aloysius Paulus Maria “Louis” van Gaal, who is now in charge of the Netherlands’ national football team, was born on August 8, 1951.

Born in Amsterdam, Van Gaal. He first played for the RKSV de Meer amateur team in Amsterdam as a young kid.

He joined Ajax’s second team when he was 20 years old, but he was never selected to play for the first group, which at the time included midfielders like Johan Cruyff and Johan Neeskens. On loan to Royal Antwerp in the Belgian First Level, where they finished second in the top league in both 1974 and 1975, he played for Guy Thys’ team.

On August 4, 2021, Van Gaal came out of retirement to take charge of the Netherlands national team for the third time. He succeeded Frank de Boer, who left his position in June as a result of the team’s futile Euro 2020 campaign. Van Gaal’s third stint with the Netherlands’ national team began on September 1, 2021, with a 1-1 draw against Norway.
