An Accra Circuit Court has heard the case of a 32-year-old representative of the Alpha Lotto Corporation who is accused of stealing GH253,680 from the business.
Ernest Larbi is accused of stealing and falsifying accounts.
Theresa Afful, a lottery writer, and Belinda Afful, both 20, are his co-conspirators and have also been accused of aiding and abetting criminal activity and fabricating financial records.
Larbi and Belinda have pleaded not guilty to their separate accusations. Theresa Afful is still evading capture.
Mr. Larbi and Belinda were granted bail in the amount of GH$200,000 each, with two sureties, by the court presided over by Kizita Naa Koowa Quarshie.
It stipulated that one of the sureties must be a government employee making at least GH2,000 per month. April 11, 2023 has been set aside for the case.
The complainant Mr. Evans Kwaah, who resides in Mataheko, Accra, is a Lotto Agent for Alpha Lotto Company Limited, while the accused people live in Fadama and Anyaa, according to Chief Inspector Samuel Ahiabor, who testified before the court.
According to the prosecution, Mr. Larbi hired Belinda Afful and Madam Theresa Afful to work as lottery writers for Alpha Lotto Company Limited without Mr. Evans Kwaah’s knowledge.
