The residents of Jema and Ampoma in the Kintampo South Constituency in the Bono East Region have seen relief from their problems with water supply, which have persisted for more than six months, thanks to the efforts of the former first lady, Lordina Mahama.
Due to a malfunctioning pump at the small town water system plant that supplies those communities, the water delivery system in the area experienced disruptions over time.
When Mrs. Mahama saw the state of the people, she made the decision to purchase a new pump, which was installed for GH¢45,000. The area-native former first lady also invited a few widows to a get-together at Ampoma for the start of the new year.
The people’s chief, Nana Amponsah Gyan II, the Krontihene, Nana Adubofour, and other traditional leaders thanked Mrs. Mahama for her support, stating that it had greatly relieved their situation.
“The water supply problem in Jema has been resolved thanks to this kind assistance, and the Jema SHS, Ampoma, and Jema Nkwanta neighboring communities will all benefit from it,” Nana Gyan stated.
The water system was built in 2013 as part of a peri-urban and small-town water supply and sanitation project in the Brong Ahafo Region, funded by the French Development Agency.
The residents of Jema and Ampoma once again have access to a clean and dependable water supply because of Mrs. Mahama’s prompt assistance.
