Okraku Mantey

Music producer and Artiste Manager, Mark Okraku has said although Lord Kenya was popular, he does make it into his top ten artistes who made him money.

Lord Kenya was one of Ghana’s top acts in the late nineties and the early part of two thousand under the management of Mark Okraku.

But speaking on Starr Chat with Bola Ray, Mark Okraku disclosed that although Lord Kenya was performing on all the big shows, he did not make enough money from him.

“Lord Kenya might not even come in the first ten. Oheneba Kisi is my top and my second best selling artiste. Dasebre should be the third. You know the culture of buying hiplife was not in vogue at the time so you will be popular but people will not buy your CDs. The Oheneba Kisi’s and the highlifers were not on stage so you will not get people inviting them to perform at shows but they had the sales. We had the Brong Ahafo, Northern and all the people buying the CDs and supporting the song. I remember the replication company asked us whether we were selling the CDs of ‘Odo y3 ka biribi kyer3me’ because of the rate at which we were replicating it.”

He mentioned that although he felt betrayed by some artistes he had managed and was an executive producer of their songs in the past, he has forgiven them because he is a religious person.
