Liya Chu is a Taiwanese American teenager who won the challenging Master Chef Junior show in the US. The young chef was born to parents who emigrated from Taiwan to the United States. They actually own a restaurant in Bronxville, New York. That is where her love for cooking comes from. She has been around restaurants her whole life so cooking has become second nature.
Master Chef Junior Liya Chu, 13, won $100,000 in prize money and plans to use the money for college. Chu’s winning dish was pork dumplings with a salt and pepper blue prawn and spicy aioli.
The Chu competed against 16 other young chefs from the ages of 8 -13 and came up tops. They had to go through a series of challenging cooking tests before some very strict judges. Winning the show has actually made her and their restaurant pretty famous.
