Lineup released for Venice Film Competition

The 79th Venice Film Festival, which takes place on the Lido from August 31 to September 10, has unveiled a strong roster.

The whole list of competition films can be found below, and it features brand-new productions from filmmakers like Darren Aronofsky, Alejandro G. Inarritu, Todd Field, Andrew Dominik, Luca Guadagnino, Alice Diop, Joanna Hogg, Martin McDonagh, Jafar Panahi, and Florian Zeller.

Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling, from Warner Bros., with Florence Pugh and Harry Styles, as well as a new documentary from Oliver Stone and the TV series The Kingdom Exodus and Copenhagen Cowboy, respectively, from Danish directors Lars von Trier and Nicolas Winding Refn, all have high-profile Out of Competition slots.

Today at 11 a.m. local time (2 a.m. PT/5 a.m. ET), the 79th Venice Film Festival will reveal its schedule.

Speaking at the press conference are Roberto Cicutto, President of La Biennale di Venezia, and Alberto Barbera, Artistic Director of the Cinema Department, who is in charge of the Lido fest.

The press conference is taking place at the Library of the Biennale Historical Archive of Contemporary Arts in Venice.
