Gypsy Rose Blanchard is a name that many people are familiar with due to her harrowing story of abuse, deception, and ultimately, murder. Born on July 27, 1991, in Golden Meadow, Louisiana, Gypsy’s life was turned upside down by her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Pitre, who led her to believe she was sick most of her life.
Dee Dee deceived Gypsy and those around her into thinking that she suffered from various chronic medical conditions, including leukemia, asthma, and muscular dystrophy. It was later determined that Dee Dee most likely suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a psychological disorder where a caregiver fabricates an illness or injury to someone under their care.
The story took a tragic turn on June 14, 2015 when Dee Dee was found stabbed to death in her home, leading to the arrest of Gypsy and her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn. Gypsy was ultimately sentenced to ten years in prison for her role in her mother’s murder.
After serving seven years of her sentence, Gypsy was released from prison and has since become a social media sensation, amassing over nine million followers on TikTok. She recently announced that she is expecting her first child with her ex-fiance Ken Urker, whom she reconnected with after splitting from her former husband, Ryan Scott Anderson.
Despite the hardships she has faced, Gypsy has shown resilience and strength in the face of adversity. She has used her platform to raise awareness about abusive relationships and the importance of forgiveness. As she embarks on this new chapter in her life, we can only hope that Gypsy finds the peace and happiness she deserves.
