Football fans will never forget the humiliation of watching Bayern Munich defeat Barcelona in the Champions League (8-2). It’s interesting to note that the match will be played once more following yesterday’s(August 25) Champion’s League draw.
In the group stages of the 2022–23 Champions League, Barcelona will play Bayern Munich, meaning Robert Lewandowski will likely make an early return to his old team, while Manchester City Erling Haaland will also reunite with Borussia Dortmund, where he previously played as a top-notch striker.
After eight years with Bayern, Lewandowski abruptly left to join Barca in a €50 million deal. They will now compete against one another after being put in the same Group C.
The two clubs will play each other in the group stages of Europe’s premier club competition for the second consecutive year thanks to Thursday’s draw, which was held in Istanbul, Turkey.
Bayern defeated Barca twice last season by three goals to nil, sending the Spanish powerhouses to the Europa League, where they advanced to the quarterfinals.
Immediately after the draw was aired Thomas Muller, one of Bayern’s talismans took to Twitter to welcome his ex-teammate to the Allianz arena in the coming weeks ahead of their mouth-watering fixture.
Bayern Munich (Germany), Barcelona (Spain), Inter Milan (Italy), and Viktoria Plzen (Czech Republic) represent Group C of the Champion’s League draw.
