Major General Richard Addo Gyane, Commandant of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), has urged Ghanaians to embrace collaboration, inclusivity, innovation, and creativity as the world navigates the complexities of the digital era.

Speaking at the 2024 E-Learning International Conference hosted by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Maj. Gen. Gyane emphasized the importance of continued advocacy for education driven by technology to serve as a catalyst for peace and prosperity for all.

He highlighted the need for e-learning initiatives to play a significant role in advancing peace and security in Africa, noting that the KAIPTC is already leveraging e-learning to equip peacekeepers and security professionals with advanced skills and knowledge.

The Commandant outlined various courses offered by the KAIPTC, including the Protection of Civilians, Criminal Justice Executives, Investigating Sexual and Gender-based Violence, and courses on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism and Terrorism, Maritime Security, and Transnational Organized Crime.

Looking ahead, Maj. Gen. Gyane expressed his vision for the KAIPTC to expand its course offerings, enhance technology infrastructure, and deepen engagement with stakeholders in the next five years. He also stressed the importance of continuously evolving methodologies and embracing emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and data analytics.

According to the Commandant, strategic management of e-learning at the KAIPTC is not just about adopting technological advancements but also about using them to drive positive change and sustainable development across the African sub-region.

As the digital age continues to evolve, Maj. Gen. Addo Gyane’s call for collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity serves as a reminder of the importance of leveraging technology for the advancement of peace and security in Africa.
