Let’s live peacefully and shame our saboteurs – Savannah executives of NPP, NDC

The Savannah Region of Ghana has seen instances where supporters from both the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) hoot at their presidential candidates during public events in the region.

To address this issue, the regional executives of both parties have come together to organize a gala competition aimed at fostering unity ahead of the December elections.

The embarrassing incidents involving supporters hooting at the NPP’s Dr Mahamud Bawumia and the NDC’s John Mahama at various events in the region have prompted the leaders of the two parties to take action. The gala competition, set to kick off on Friday night, will involve the regional executives of both political parties.

The goal is to bring supporters of the NDC and the NPP together to promote peace and demonstrate unity as descendants of Ndewura Jakpa. The competition will also coincide with the celebration of the first Anniversary of Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, the 48th Annual Congress of Gonja Land Youth Association, and the Guan Conference in Damongo from April 25 to 28, 2024.

According to the Savannah Regional NPP Chairman, Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana, and his NDC counterpart, Seidu Imoro, the two parties have no choice but to work together in peace and ensure their supporters do not display any political malice or emotions during the upcoming activities. Professor Kalamonia emphasized the importance of protecting and developing the Savannah Region and urged against engaging in divisive behavior that could tarnish the region’s image.

The peace football gala is expected to be attended by the King of Gonja, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale (I), paramount Chiefs, and other dignitaries from both within and outside the region.

Captains from the competing teams will be named Peace Ambassadors for the 2024 elections and beyond, promoting a message of unity and cooperation.
