On October 31, 1993, Letitia Michelle Wright was born in Georgetown, Guyana. Ivan Bombokka is her only sibling. When she was seven years old, her family moved to London, England, and she began attending Northumberland Park Community School while her brother transferred to another continent.
In the 2018 movie Black Panther, Wright played Shuri, the princess of Wakanda and sister of King T’Challa. Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, and Danai Gurira all starred in this Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, which also included Michael B. Jordan. Wright’s performance in the movie earned her the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Breakthrough Performance in Motion Picture.
Two months later, in Avengers: Infinity War, Wright returned to the character. Wright made a cameo appearance as Reb in Steven Spielberg’s movie Ready Player One, which was based on the science fiction book of the same name from 2011. Drake’s “Nice for What” music video includes an appearance by Wright.
