Letitia James is an American lawyer and politician who happens to be a member of the Democratic Party and the current Attorney General of New York, having won the 2018 election to succeed appointed AG Barbara Underwood.

She happens to be the first African American and first woman to be elected to the position.

James is one of eight children of her parents – Nellie James (b. 1919, Martinsville, Virginia) and Robert James. She was born to her parents on October 18, 1958, in Brooklyn, New York, United States, hence she is 64 years old now. 

Talking about her education, she began her early education in New York City public schools. She attended Fort Hamilton High School.

After high school, she enrolled at the City University of New York’s Lehman College where she received her Bachelor of Arts in 1981. She received her Juris Doctor degree from Howard University School of Law in Washington, D.C. in 1987, and was admitted to practice law in New York State in 1989.

In 2013, She attended Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) located in New York City for a degree in Master of Public Administration.
