Presidential Candidate for Movement for Change Alan John Kyeremanten has assured traders and businesses in Agona Nkwanta of his commitment to build a modern and all-purpose market for them. During his campaign tour of the Western Region, Mr Kyeremanten expressed dismay at the current state of the main market in Agona Nkwanta, which he described as inadequate and not conducive for trading.

The Agona Nkwanta market serves as a significant hub for farmers in the Western Region, where they bring their produce for distribution to other markets. However, due to the high number of traders, some are forced to sell their goods in the open. Those with stalls face challenges such as poor lighting at night, prompting Mr Kyeremanten to promise a change in the market conditions if elected as President.

Addressing the traders, Mr Kyeremanten emphasized the need for a more suitable trading environment that acknowledges the hard work and sacrifices of the traders. He criticized the long-standing dominance of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the country’s politics, stating that there has been little improvement in market conditions over the past three decades.

Promising to be a viable alternative, Mr Kyeremanten urged the traders to support his candidacy and help bring about a change in the country’s economic landscape. He also pledged to establish a bank specifically for traders to address their financial needs effectively.

In response to Mr Kyeremanten’s campaign promises, some traders expressed their support for his vision, citing the need for a shift away from the traditional political parties. They highlighted the importance of choosing a leader who prioritizes the well-being and sustainability of local businesses.

Moving to the Takoradi light industrial area, also known as Kokompe, Mr Kyeremanten engaged with artisans who were concerned about the escalating import duties on spare parts and vehicle accessories. He pledged to remove import duties on spare parts after two years into his administration, emphasizing the importance of stable economic measures to support businesses.

The current challenges faced by transport operators due to high spare parts costs were also addressed by Mr Kyeremanten, who proposed the elimination of import duties as a solution. Artisans in Kokompe echoed their support for a leader who prioritizes local businesses’ growth and sustainability, expressing confidence in Mr Kyeremanten’s commitment to their cause.

As the campaign season unfolds, traders and artisans in Agona Nkwanta and Takoradi are looking to candidates like Alan Kyeremanten for a fresh perspective and tangible solutions to improve their livelihoods and business operations. The upcoming election presents an opportunity for change and progress, and voters are eager to see how candidates like Mr Kyeremanten will address their concerns and deliver on their promises.
