The heartbreaking news of the passing of Leonid Shvartsman, a renowned Soviet and Belarusian animator and visual artist, has sent shocking waves across the globe.

He is said to have passed on today peacefully surrounded by his family. The Centenarian’s death cause is not documented however from rumors he died most likely from old age.
Shvartsman was involved in the creation of Cheburashka’s visual image, which became the mascot of the Russian team at the 2004 Summer Olympics. The artist received several Russian awards, as well as nominations for the Lenin and Stalin Prizes and the American Hollywood for Children award.
Shvartsman was the director of the Museum of Animated Film in recent years. Dora-Dora-tomato, his most recent cartoon, debuted in 2001.
