American singer, composer, disc jockey, record producer, and multi-instrumentalist Frank Sylvers III was born on March 7, 1953, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was a member of the family group The Sylvers, and in the late 1970s and early 1980s, thanks to his association with Dick Griffey’s SOLAR Records, he became known as one of black music’s most successful producers.
