At the age of 86, Baja passed away on February 8, 2024, following a heart attack. During the Philippines’ two-year Security Council participation, Baja led the Philippine delegation. He served as the Security Council’s president twice, between June 2004 and September 2005. Amb. Baja presided over the UN General Assembly’s Sixth Committee (Legal) from 2003 to 2004.
