The Master Screenwriter Certificate from ScreenwritingU was recently attained by Lauren Yaffe. Additionally, she has a BA in English from the University of Iowa and an MFA in Fiction from Warren Wilson College. Alaska Quarterly Review, Cottonwood, Calliope, Sassy, and English Journal are just a few of the periodicals, journals, and anthologies that have published her tales, essays, and poems.
Lauren grew up in the rural areas of Washington, DC. She developed a strong bond with urban environment as a result of her meanderings through Rock Creek Park, the unruly grass in her backyard, and her mother’s love of mud pies.
From 1994 to 1998, Lauren co-founded, oversaw, and taught at Brooklyn Bound Writing Workshops. She has also instructed writers at the Warren Wilson Writing Conferences, Polytechnic University, Penn Writer’s Conference, and other venues. From 1989 through 1994, Lauren organized the Brooklyn Bound Reading Series.
She edited Richard Yaffe, her journalistic grandfather, who wrote a collection of articles titled ALL IN A LIFETIME. She oversaw literature groups for elementary school students as a NYC School Volunteer. She currently conducts kid-friendly worm composting classes.
