Dozier was a member of the songwriting and production group Holland-Dozier-Holland, which helped create most of the Motown sound and countless successful songs by performers including Martha and the Vandellas, The Supremes, and The Isley Brothers.

Eddie Holland focused mostly on songwriting and vocal production, while Dozier worked as the group’s musical arranger and producer alongside Brian Holland.

Dozier followed up his work for Motown Records by founding and owning Invictus Records and Hot Wax Records, where he produced top-charting singles for acts like Freda Payne and the Holland Brothers.

He is reported to have passed away in the early hours of August 9, 2022, at the age of 81.
