He had a number of number one records and received Grammy awards as a member of the songwriting trio Holland, Dozier, Holland. Their top songs include You Can’t Hurry Love, Baby Love, Nowhere to Run, How Sweet It Is (to Be Loved by You), and Nowhere to Run.
Prior to his death he was believed to have lived in one of his estates in Detroit, Michigan, United States.
