Lady Julia Osei Tutu, the wife of Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II, recently shared a heartwarming tale of how she first met her husband in Kumasi.

The serendipitous encounter took place during the inauguration of the first Ecobank branch in Kumasi, where Lady Julia was serving as Ecobank Ghana’s Legal and Corporate Affairs Officer.

After delivering a classy vote of thanks at the event, Lady Julia caught the eye of the King, who complimented her flawless delivery. This led to an exchange of contact information and eventually a lunch invitation from her managing director at Otumfuo’s residence. Little did Lady Julia know that this lunch was actually an audition for a lifelong partnership.

Despite the rain and the urging of his courtiers to leave, the King made sure to find out more about Lady Julia before the event ended. This marked the beginning of a beautiful journey that has lasted 22 years and has been blessed with children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and an extended family.

Lady Julia shared these cherished memories during a lavish dinner organized to celebrate Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II’s 74th birthday on May 6. The event brought together dignitaries, royal family members, and distinguished guests who joined in the celebration with warmth and friendship.

During the gathering, Lady Julia also surprised her husband with a touching love letter, expressing her gratitude for the extraordinary life he has gifted her. Asantehene Osei Tutu II, who ascended to the throne as the 16th Asantehene in April 1999 at the age of 49, is now firmly a septuagenarian as he marks the 25th year of his reign.

The event was held at the Jubilee Hall, where attendees commemorated the happy occasion with hospitality and camaraderie. It was a joyous celebration of love, partnership, and the enduring bond between Lady Julia and Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II.
