Joseph Addo, President Nana Akufo-Addo’s personal driver, is gearing up to contest in the NPP parliamentary primary in La Dade-Kotopon with confidence.

Having filed his nomination successfully, Addo believes he can win back the seat for the New Patriotic Party, which was lost to the NDC in 2020. The Greater Accra Elections Committee has vetted and approved Addo for the primary election.

“I was born and bred here in La, I have lived all my life here so I am not new in this constituency,” Addo expressed to reporters, highlighting his strong connection to the area.

The upcoming primary on April 27 follows the resignation of Dr. Gerald Joseph Tetteh, the previously elected parliamentary candidate for the party, citing personal reasons. This has opened up the opportunity for new aspirants like Addo to step in.

Addo, who has served as President Akufo-Addo’s driver for over two decades, emphasized his track record of helping the youth in the area secure jobs and employment in government agencies. He pointed out that his motivation to run for the parliamentary seat stems from his belief that he can serve the constituents better and address the neglected needs of the youth in La.

Despite being in the background, Addo highlighted his contributions to the party and constituents, including facilitating the acquisition of a new party office space after the destruction of the old one.

With the primary approaching, Addo remains optimistic about his chances in both the internal election and the general election scheduled for December 7. The NPP aims to reclaim the La Dade-Kotopon seat, which was lost to the NDC in the last election.

In addition to Addo, Solomon Kotey Nikoi, the Municipal Chief Executive for the area, has also filed his nomination to compete in the upcoming primary, setting the stage for a competitive race in the constituency.
