Actor Kyle Martin Chandler was born in the United States on September 17, 1965. Chandler made his acting debut on the big screen in the 1988 television movie Quiet Victory: The Charlie Wedemeyer Story.
In the television series Tour of Duty, he played Army Private William Griner in his first significant acting role. He played a member of a special operations squad engaged in combat in Vietnam in eight episodes of the final season of the show.
In 1992’s Pure Country, a movie starring George Strait, Chandler made his acting debut in one of the film’s pivotal roles. In the ABC drama series Homefront, which was set in the post-World War II era in the fictional community of River Run, Ohio, from 1991 to 1993, he had a series regular role as Cleveland Indians right fielder Jeff Metcalf. Chandler appeared in all 42 episodes of Homefront over the course of its two seasons.
