Asante Kotoko midfielder Richmond Lamptey has sent his best wishes to goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim following his departure from the club.

The Ghanaian giants are now looking ahead to the 2024/25 season after a disappointing run in the Ghana Premier League, leading to a major squad overhaul.

Eleven players, including the club’s captain Danlad Ibrahim and Georges Mfegue, have left the team as their contracts expired, making room for new additions for the upcoming campaign.

Danlad, who joined Asante Kotoko in the 2016-17 season, has been a significant contributor to the team and has represented Ghana at various youth levels as well as the senior national team.

His achievements include winning the Ghana Premier League in the 2021-22 season, the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in 2021, and the WAFU Zone B U-20 Tournament in 2020.

Notably, Danlad has also received individual accolades such as the Golden Glove at both the WAFU Zone B U-20 Tournament in 2020 and the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in 2021, in addition to being named the Ghana Football Awards Goalkeeper of the Year in 2021.

During the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season, Danlad Ibrahim made thirteen appearances for Asante Kotoko.

Lamptey took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express his gratitude towards Danlad, saying, “It was nice having you as a teammate and a friend. Good luck in your future endeavors.”
