Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has acknowledged that Asante Kotoko’s victory in the Super Clash over the weekend was well-deserved.
Steven Mukwala scored two goals for Asante Kotoko as they secured a 2-0 win at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday during match week 31 of the Ghana Premier League.
In his post-match interview, the Ivorian coach admitted that his team did not perform well enough to secure a victory.
“It’s the harsh reality of football. If you can’t score, you can’t expect to win. Asante Kotoko had a solid performance today and I must congratulate them. Unfortunately, we did not play up to our standards. Asante Kotoko truly deserved the win,” Ouattara said.
Following the win, Asante Kotoko has moved up to ninth place in the league standings with 43 points, while Hearts of Oak is currently in 14th place with 38 points, just two points away from the relegation zone.
Asante Kotoko will face Accra Great Olympics on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for their next match in week 32.
On the other hand, Hearts of Oak will be hosting Nations FC at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, May 31, 2024, in their upcoming fixture.
