Today, March 13, 2024, marks the start of an indefinite strike by the doctors at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
This is because they are going to be moving out of their homes in Danyame, which is the Ashanti Regional Capital, Kumasi.
The Association’s leadership has announced that members may have to vacate their bungalows, which were purportedly sold to a private developer.
On Tuesday, Adom FM’s morning program, Dwaso Nsem, revealed that the Komfo Anokye Doctors Association’s chairman, Dr. Michael Leat, had told them a week to leave the property without making any plans for relocation.
A group of KATH consultants and specialists protested about the eviction notice they received in a letter that they all signed.
The physicians are threatening to retaliate against the government if they don’t resolve their housing concerns within the next three days.
A crisis meeting over the matter is scheduled for today among the Ghana Medical Association’s (GMA) leadership.
