Dr. Currency, a medical professional employed at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Lokoja, has disclosed that a group of individuals forcibly entered the facility and assaulted hospital employees who were on duty due to a patient’s death.
On his X handle, #k_f2d, he recounted the incident, writing, “My team was called to the A&E to review a new patient.” Men from Kaftan smashed past the fence and began requesting the doctors who were on duty.
They seem to have lost a patient. And the physicians were their target. I found out that one of them is a political figurehead.
“I didn’t know the patient, so I was staring at them, perplexed. The leader stoned his phone at me the next thing I knew. There were only three physicians present. There, we got up and went inside,” he quoted.
They acquired a great force of entry into the room where we were, grabbed my male coworker and myself, and nearly tore our shirts. I couldn’t even think to talk. There were a ton of them. We succeeded in escaping A&E to head to a different ward.
The men started destroying hospital property and attacking staff, as the doctor claimed in his post. The Chief Security Officer then approached them with a gun because the men had turned violent.
He added that they took the pistol away from the man, and in the process, multiple rounds were fired. The gate to the hospital was locked. Right now, we’re hiding throughout the hospital in various places. The hospital security guards are no longer armed. I don’t feel secure.
Amid the hubbub, I managed to get this on camera. But in the interim, this is happening at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Lokoja. As of right now, we remain hidden. We are terrified and unsure of what will happen next. He narrated.
