Christopher Laurie Malthouse is a British politician and businessman who has been the Secretary of State for Education since 2022. He previously served as Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster in 2022 and as Minister of State for Crime and Policing at the Home Office and the Ministry of Justice from 2020 to 2022 as a Conservative Party member. From 2019 to 2020, he was the Minister of Crime, Policing, and the Fire Service. Since 2015, he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for North West Hampshire.
Malthouse was a member of Westminster City Council from 1998 to 2006, serving as Deputy Council Leader from 2004 to 2006. He was a Conservative member of the London Assembly representing West London.
