King Charles III hosts Asantehene at Sandringham House

In a historic meeting, King Charles III welcomed the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu III, to the Sandringham House in the United Kingdom on Tuesday.

This marks the first visit of the Asantehene to the King of England since King Charles III’s coronation in March 2023.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is currently in the UK as part of his Silver Jubilee celebrations. The visit to the Sandringham residence, a house standing on a 20,000-acre estate in the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, symbolizes the strong relationship between the two leaders.

During his stay in the UK, the Asantehene engaged in various activities, including holding talks with the Victoria and Albert Museum, delivering a lecture at the British Museum, and celebrating the Awukudae festival. The highlight of his visit will be hosting the sixth Akwasidae Festival of the year in London on August 4, 2024, as part of his 25th Anniversary on the Golden Stool.

The Asantehene’s working visit to the UK showcases the rich cultural ties between Ghana and the United Kingdom. His trip underscores the importance of strengthening diplomatic relations and promoting cultural exchanges between the two nations.
