Kerby Joseph has been signed by the Detroit Lions of the NFL to play as a safety for the team. He was picked by the Lions in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Joseph was raised in Orlando, Florida, where he graduated from Jones High School. He caught five touchdown passes as a wide receiver and had four interceptions and seven tackles for loss as a senior cornerback. Joseph, a three-star recruit, chose Illinois over offers from Mississippi State, Syracuse, South Florida, and Florida Atlantic to play collegiate football.
Contract
The 4-year contract the 21-year-old safety has appended his signature to is worth $4,110,884. It carries a total cap hit of $5,044,904 and a dead cap value of $1,392,942.
The deal also came with a workout bonus of $85,000.
Salary per year
He will be paid a base salary of $705,000 for the year 2022 which is set to increase by a stipulated percentage each year until his contract with the Lions ran out.

The young American footballer has not been on the professional football scene for long so his earnings are quite modest.
