Kendrick Lamar and Lil Nas X lead the field of nominees at the MTV Video Music Awards

With seven nominations each, Kendrick Lamar, Jack Harlow, and Lil Nas X are in the lead for the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards.

Doja Cat and Harry Styles (6 nominations apiece), Billie Eilish, Drake, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd round out the top five (5 each).

Swift’s “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” music video, which received nominations for best longform video, cinematography, direction, and editing, earned her five nominations.

Notable as well: With her 69th VMA nomination (for “Madame X”), Madonna joins a select group of musicians who have received nominations in each of the VMA’s five decades of existence.

The 2022 VMAs will be broadcast live from New Jersey’s Prudential Center on Sunday, August 28 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

The awards will be broadcast in nearly 30 different languages via MTV’s extensive worldwide network of conventional and digital channels in 170+ countries, reaching 422 million households.

The VMAs will be simultaneously broadcast on The CW Network, BET, BET Her, CMT, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TVLand, and VH1 for the third year in a row.
