Adams began her media career as a graduate trainee at Central Television, where she specialized in politics and news reporting; her first coup was a one-hour interview with Margaret Thatcher.
Adams stayed focused on hard news for the following few years after joining Scottish Television’s nightly news show, Scotland Today, in early 1988. She was among the first journalists to arrive on the scene of the Lockerbie bombing in 1988. A fortunate opportunity to present a debate show for Scottish Television when its original anchor Sheena McDonald left launched her on a new path in 1992. Scottish Women ran for six years under Adams’ direction (1993-99), winning a number of prizes and launching Adams’ career as a talk show host.
